Trump mistook photo of E. Jean Carroll for ex-wife during deposition in rape allegation lawsuit


Former President Donald Trump e. Jean misled Carroll, who accused him of rape. Into a photo with his ex-wife Marla Maples during a deposition. Unsealed court documents show.

An excerpt from the October deposition released Wednesday. By the U.S. District Court for Southern New York. Includes an exchange in which Trump was asked by Carroll’s lawyer. About a black-and-white photograph that showed Trump and Carroll in a small group.

“That’s Marla, yeah. That’s my wife,” Trump said, referring to Maples.

Trump lawyer Alina Habba corrected the mistake,  photo saying, “No, that’s Carroll.”

Trump’s comments under oath threatened to undercut Carroll’s. Repeated denials of the allegations, claiming she was “not my type.”

Trump was married to Maples from 1993 to 1999. Carroll, 79, alleged that Trump assaulted her in a New York department store in the mid-1990s.

Trump, who has launched a 2024 presidential bid. Last week asked a federal judge to dismiss Carroll’s lawsuit. Judge Lewis Kaplan denied Trump’s request.

In earlier excerpts, Trump denied the allegations. And insulted Carroll, calling her a “hack job” who was “not my type.”
