With no big winner, Mega Million jackpot climbs to $1.1B

No one won Friday night’s $940 million Mega Millions jackpot — making the next drawing more than $1 billion.

The second jackpot highest, $1.3 billion, was won in July.

Because no one took home the top prize. The jackpot after Tuesday night’s Mega Millions grew to an estimated $1.1 billion, game officials said.

The numbers drawn on Friday night were 3, 20, 46, 59, 63 and Mega Ball 13.

The odds of the winner taking home the jackpot were a slight one in 302.6 million. Friday night’s drawing was the sixth largest in US history.
 
No one has won the Mega Millions top prize since Oct. 14, when the jackpot was $502 million. People who bought tickets in California and Florida split it, game officials said.

To explain the odds of winning, Morgan gave a scenario. where you timed your way into the Mega Millions until you won.

“Let’s say it takes you a minute to fill out a Mega Millions entry form and pay to enter, Morgan said. “Do this every minute, non-stop, 24 hours a day. Until you’ve entered every possible combination. It will take you 575 years to enter them all.”
