The shooting happened Monday afternoon near Half Moon Bay, south of San Francisco.
A suspected gunman was arrested Monday after seven people were killed. At two nurseries near a small town south of San Francisco, authorities said.
San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus told reporters.
An eighth victim was taken to a local hospital. With life-threatening injuries, Corpus said.
Aerial video captured by TTN Bay Area showed him surrendering. To authorities at a sheriff’s substation in Half Moon Bay. A motive remains unknown, Corpus said.
People live in one or both locations. And Corpus said children were present during the shooting.
“It was in the afternoon when the kids got out of school,” he said. “For kids to see that — it’s unspeakable.”
After a report of a shooting, Corpus said. They found four people dead and one seriously injured in the business, he said. A short time later, authorities found three more fatally wounded people. At the second location, he said.
