Shah Rukh Khan’s Charity Donates To Delhi Car Horror Victim’s Family

Actor Shah Rukh Khan’s philanthropic venture – the Meer Foundation – has donated an undisclosed sum to the family of Delhi woman. Anjali Singh, who was dragged to death early in the New Year.
20-year-old Anjali died in a brutal hit-and-run in northwest Delhi’s Kanjhawala. The victim, living with her mother and siblings, was the sole earning member of the family.

The Mir Foundation, named after Shah Rukh Khan’s father Mir Taj Mohammad Khan. Said it is to provide adequate relief to Anjali’s siblings as well as help the family, especially the mother, with her health issues.

The Meer Foundation says it aims to “affect change at the ground level and work to build a world that empowers women”.

Five men who admitted to being drunk at the time were arrested. And charged on January 1 with “not amounting to culpable homicide”, reckless driving and causing death by negligence.

Anjali Singh was returning home with a friend on her scooter when she was hit by a car a little after 2 am. His leg got caught in the front axle of the car, and he was dragged from the car, while his friend fell on the other side and escaped without injury.

On Tuesday, Anjali’s friend – Nidhi – who was with Anjali during the incident told the media that Anjali was drunk on the day of the incident.

The seven accused in the case are now in the custody of the Delhi Police.
