Pakistan went with Safaraz Ahmed as their wicketkeeper for the Test series against New Zealand and Mohammad Rizwan was benched
Pakistan breathed a sigh of relief after the second Test against New Zealand was drawn on Day 5. Nasim Shah and Abrar Ahmed remained unbeaten at the crease after play ended abruptly due to bad light, at a time when the hosts needed 15 runs. Victory with just one wicket in hand. Pakistan were miles away from chasing down the mammoth target of 319 runs but it was wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfraz Ahmed’s century, which completely changed the course of the game. Safraj, who returned to the national team in the first Test against New Zealand, did full justice to his role by scoring 86 runs. He went on to register brilliant inns of 78 and 118 in the second Test.

The former Pakistan captain has been garnering a lot of praise from fans and the cricket community for being named the player of the series. However, one wish that definitely caught everyone’s attention was wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan’s tweet.
“Another great knock by Saifee Bhai. Hard work and faith in Allah is what gets you. Mujhe Saifee bhai ke man of the series hon se ic hi khushi jaase yeh mujhe milla ho. Balnak yakinan us se vi jada. Khush Raheen @SarfarazA_54 Bhai Rizwan Tweet did

Pakistan went with Safraz as their wicketkeeper for the second Test and Rizwan was benched for the game. Nevertheless, the 30-year-old cricketer showed great sportsmanship and congratulated his teammate on his achievement.
Pakistan’s interim chief selector Shahid Afridi congratulated Sarfaraz for his innings but clarified that Rizwan was the team’s number one choice in white-ball cricket.

“I am very happy that Saifee is back and has given such an amazing performance, but Mohammad Rizwan is available and he is our main wicket-keeper in both T20Is and ODIs,” Shahid Afridi said at the press conference.
“God forbid if Rizwan gets injured or tired, we will look at other options. Let’s not confuse someone’s Test performance with limited-overs Test performance.”
