Three are families and five are vacant students, according to the Iron County School District.
Eight people, five of them minors, were found dead in a southwest. Utah home Wednesday from what authorities described as clear gunshot wounds.
178 miles northeast of Las Vegas, a city spokeswoman said in a news release.
There were no suspects or threats to the public, the statement said.
Authorities have not publicly identified the casualties.
Enoch City Manager Rob Dotson said in a video statement that the community is in pain. Utah home
“We all know this family, many of us have served with them at church. In the community and gone to school with these individuals. And so this community is suffering now,” he said.
In a letter, the Iron County School District said they belong to the same family. According to the district’s letter to parents and guardians, there were five students.
“This loss will raise many emotions, concerns. And questions for our entire school district, especially our students,” the letter said.
The district added that a crisis intervention team will be available to students.
On Twitter, Utah Governor Spencer Cox called the violence “senseless.” And asked people to keep Enoch in their prayers.
